Bib Vrede, a small Antwerp library, moves to a new building. The library is mostly used by schoolkids, neighbors and people who come to learn and practice Dutch. It was clear this assignment asked for simple, clear and inviting illustrations.

I did my best to draw my diverse and vivid neighborhood as accurate as possible. From hipster parents and their carrier bikes to women with headscarves. A bunch of enthusiast school kids in all human colors. The library moves to a cozy square, so I couldn’t let out the people on the nearby terraces. I combined the neighborhood with the fun of books and reading: disappearing while reading, learning from books, mouthwatering cookbooks, my childhood hero Pippi Longstocking and so on!

These readers will be put on window stickers, bookmarks, invitations, coloring plates and so on.
