A lot of us when we first start out feel safer working with people we already know, whether they're good at filmmaking or not. Certainly it's fun to work on films with friends, but there might be times when you need people who know more than you do in order to get the film made. If you decide to work with experienced film people, you'll have to find them. Depending upon where you live, this might be as simple as contacting a local film office or regional media arts center or your local access television channel.
