Cover design for George Orwell's Animal Farm

ANIMAL FARM BOOK COVER PROJECT

My component photos which I would scan and transfer to my template. Using paint was a way to achieve a realistic texture and a distressed quality.
The front (right) and back (left) covers. This is how they would appear on the spine cover of a book. The damage and darkening signals the downward spiral that Animal Farm takes as the story progresses. Green is also symbolic of the revolution and red is a colour associated with humans in the book.
Much of my work was done using paint and paper. The text on the rear, the text on the windmill and the sky on both sides. Thelast text I painted was a quote for the rear of the book. It is one of the most famous and repeatable quotes from the book and I felt it should stand apart from the quite text heavy rear cover.
My completed submission sitting within the provided template.
Here we have the final rendering for what the book might look like as a hard back copy.
