BRIEF
Create a promotional animation for an Los Angeles based event, using only graphic elements. Billed as the Rose Parade’s twisted sister, the Doo Dah Parade is an eccentric and irreverent satire of the Rose Parade which takes place in Pasadena CA.

CONCEPT
To graphically portray the transformation from one type of parade to another. The succession of letters is triggered by the explosion of the initial “D” falling out from Pasadena dislodged by the weight of all the corporate sponsorships from the Rose Parade.

APPROACH
Each letter of the word Doo Dah was formed from irregular pieces that come together in order form a “float”. These shapes range from fluid to angular to graphically represent the variety of ideas. Two colors were chosen, one warm, one cool, that vibrated when put together. The dots represent the people that participate in the parade either on the floats or as marchers. The letters move in succession like a parade and come together as an eclectic whole in the end.
