Tom Sawyer Background and Poster Layout
I wanted to do a Mark Twain theme for our summer hours poster at Mizzou. For that, I needed Tom Sawyer painting a fence, one of the most iconic Twain scenes. The fence illustration was done in Adobe Sketch on an iPad, the precursor to Adobe Fresco.
I wasn't worried too much about the bottom, because I knew text boxes would cover a lot of that area. You can see the final next to it (larger version below).
After the basic design was done, I started playing with Kyle's brushes to get letters on the fence in Photoshop.
This is the final look. As you can see, the grass becomes just a simple texture, with details at the top.
