Illustrations of Muslim Families for MUSAWAH

This series of illustrations were made for MUSAWAH, a Malaysian NGO advocating for the positive and inclusive, representative of the diversity of Muslim families in terms of race, age, dress etc. To do this, I decided to draw this series of illustrations with bright colours and a simple drawing style. Not neglecting the detail in each character's dress and appearance, I sought to make sure the families and couples depicted here were of diverse backgrounds.

The following are the illustrations organised according to MUSAWAH's topics.

To the Bride and Groom: Love, Life, Laughter Inshallah
Providing and Protecting Together
Valuing Each Other’s Bodies and Sexual Rights
Sharing Decision Making
Caring and Working Together
Treat Boys and Girls Equally
Communicating with Each Other
Resolving Conflicts with Graciousness
Supporting One Another’s Rights to Contribute to Society
Shifting from ‘Qiwamah’ (Male authority) to ‘Mawaddah wa Rahmah (love and compassion)’
