Here I'll be uploading several digital paintings, illustrations and montages I'll be making during 2018.
This one is Hades. Each of the students were asked to do a briefing, that'd be randomly given to another student for them to work on. I got one where I had to choose one Mythological Character and put them into 2018.
This was something quick to do, since it was to be done in about an hour and I'm still not at an intermediate level in digital painting, so it does look rough.
Some might ask why the pink phone. I went with Hades and Persephone's Myth.
For those who might not know, the myth of Hades and Persephone is one of the well known Greek myths. Hades was the brother of Zeus and the God of the Underworld. Persephone was a Vegetation Goddess and daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the Goddess of nature.
The myth of Hades and Persephone is a myth of love and abduction in the Greek mythology.
There are several versions of this myth, one of them being:
Hades wanted a wife and asked Zeus to get him one. Since none of the Goddesses wanted to go live in the Underworld with the so hated God Hades, he continued being alone. Later, in one of the rare times Hades left the Underworld, he saw Persephone and instantly fell in love with her. Hades confided his secret in his brother Zeus, asking for help, so the two of them concocted a plan to trap her. As Persephone played with her companions, they caused the ground to split underneath her. She slipped beneath the Earth and Hades stole her to the Underworld where he made her his wife. Her mother was very against this and said that, if Persephone had to stay in the Underworld, all the crops would die, and so would all living creatures on Earth. No other Gods and Goddesses agreed with this so they made an agreement: Persephone could stay with Hades in the Underworld, but as soon as Spring started, she'd have to go back to help take care of the crops and make everything bloom. She would then return back to the Underworld with the arrival of Autumn, when everything starts to wither.
The myth says that Persephone was unhappy at first, but after some time, she came to really love Hades and lived happily with him.
So back to the pink phone. The class were we had to do these briefings was a bit after tje start of spring. So the pink phone represents Persephone (who, in Greek Mythology has now left the Underworld, leaving Hades alone in the Underworld), thus why he is listening to sad songs. They are apart from each other and he misses her. I bet she misses him too.

These two pictures here are from some helmet designs I was asked to make, after being accepted to the CG Spectrum April Free Trial for the Concept Art & Illustration Course, for 2 weeks.
The first one is my first submission, with my references written under (those references were compiled in a picture and sent to my mentor, Brandon Reimchen.). After our Live Q&A meeting, and with the suggestions he made, I went back and altered the pieces and submitted them again. Then there was another Live Q&A meeting, where he again talked about my work and suggested things I should work on. In the end, I had the choice to continue the course, but sadly, it's super expensive (for me, at least).
This was my very first time EVER designing Marine Space Helmets (that had to be in a 10 - 100 years human timeline, in the future obviously) and, BOY, was it a challenge. We had to stay away from making them too sci-fi or too alien like. Anyway, it was nice to get into something different. Still have a long way to go, but this is just the beginning!

This one is a photo montage I made for the theme of "Subcultures - Gothic". Our teacher invited a model over so we could photograph them, in our little studio that looks more like a broom closet... Anyway, I wanted to work more with some digital drawing and painting, but ended up just doing a collage, with just some subtle painting for the shades in her body (mainly face) and the shadows she'd make in her surroundings.

The faded sky mingled with the shoals of clouds that fluttered against the lost line of the horizon. Figures and shadows whispered in the ear of the faint and blue of the firmament.
In an imperceptible stain of the pale blue, towering columns of stones rose. It moved light and slow, with its heavy movement, to meet the immeasurable sea, on the arduous rock.
Small wrinkles of ravines penetrated the livid body of the sand.
Sands and dunes dressed and carpeted the ground and dyed the boats in the color of twilight.
In an imperceptible stain of the pale blue, towering columns of stones rose. It moved light and slow, with its heavy movement, to meet the immeasurable sea, on the arduous rock.

The title of this assignment was "Levitation". What had to be represented by drawing had to be the reason, the why, the thing/object/person/whatever was levitating/suspended/etc... This was my approach. For the dress to look more "natural" I went and used the liquify filter in Photoshop. Then I drew some branches coming from the side trees, grabbing the girl by the her arms.
