Toledo Museum of Art

Signage, gift shop, wayfinding, color palette, advertising
The Challenge: The current logo for the Toledo Museum of Art is simple and modern, but it does not convey anything specific to the museum. My goal is to create a logo that is simple and powerful, but which also contains a specific tie or reference unique to the museum, so as to add value and relevance. I also intend for it to be a flexible brand that can be used in a variety of ways.

The Solution: A graphic representation of the sculpture Stegosaurus by Alex Calder, which is stationed outside the museum. Designed with flexibility in mind, the logo can come in two forms and a variety of colors, which can be used in wayfinding, signage, t-shirts, and advertising. The main usage of the color palette is to direct museum patrons through the museum, while educating them on the type, location, and time period of the different artworks.
