This project, inspired by the opera Turandot composed by Giacomo Puccini, is the combinations of illustration, concept costume design and a story-telling. As an experimental project, it may not be categorized into a particular category. Since it’s heavily based on computer generated pictures, it could be categorized into Illustration Category.

 

From a design perspective, it aims at combining fashion haute couture with costume design , while reflecting the dramatic personality of character directly with the garment. From an illustration perspective, it explores the relationship between photo realistic details (textures, furs, embroiders, etc.) and traditional fashion illustration style. From a story-telling perspective, readers are expected to get involved with the opera through the layout pages, even they know nothing about the story before.
