DUALITY is an old school, no CGI, live action logo reveal.
The keywords were CONTRAST & COMPLEMENTARITY, between science & art, light & shadow, magnetism & repulsion, liquid & solid…
The goal was to experiment and show this interdependence in a dance of different states of matter and to entirely shot it in-camera.
For the first experiment, we moved strong neodym magnets under foam board to trigger a reaction from steel filings and reveal magnetic fields, like an extraterrestrial living form progressing.
For the second experiment, we wanted to create an impossible state, to control the shape of a liquid. To do so, we stretched the limits of surface tension by using RUSTOLEUM NeverWet. Then, the water couldn’t be fixed on the logo. It was the hardest part of the project, finding the right amount and the maximum height of water, the correct movements, before the tension breaks and floods the logo.
For the third experiment, we focused on textures. We added india ink in the water and gazed at its propagation inside the water bulge around the logo, its gradation, its pattern.
For the final, we masked the lighting of a homemade backlit tablet with a board of plywood cut with the logo.
