World Fact Book Progress

This is the progress page for my Hungary World Fact book. For this project I was unsure if I wanted it to be illustration heavy or photography heavy. Originally I started the book out as photography heavy, but started to feel like it was missing it's Hungarian feel. I reworked the book to add in the traditional folk art design.

When I first started designing the book I placed all the text and tried to cram in photos where I saw fit. The text, as a result, started to feel super crammed. It almost felt like a boring text book. The sub sections lost their appeal because I had put them all together. This was a good starting point however as it allowed me to really work with the photography and line up the photos with the text. I later started to miss the traditional Hungarian folk art that had played such a big role in my brand guidelines.
The data is where I really struggled the most. I was trying to fit all the data into a half page so I could have the title next to it. When I revisited these pages I paid careful attention to detail and really took my time to separate out the text and let it flow into as many pages as it needed.
Here we can see my first attempts at bringing the Hungarian folk art back into play and separating out the individual sections. However I found the margins on my pages were still really tight still giving it a crammed feel. When you look at the final project you'll notice I widened all the margins and allowed room for more white space.
