Veloe - innovation on mobile payment

1) About the company

Alelo is a company specialized in benefits for food, culture, transport and health segments. Founded in 2003, it is a Brazilian company that has been a market leader in the benefits sector. Their goal for 2018 is revolutionizing the mobile payment industry through their new startup, Veloe. If focuses on offering a great user experience for vehicles's payment tags, so that people can pay tolls, gas stations and parking lots in a much easier way.
2. My role

As a senior UX designer for Veloe, my role was:
1. Bring a user centered design into the web application, making sure it brings the brand consistency through the UI elements, UX writing and screen flows.
2. Translate the business goals into innovative ideas through prototyping, iteration and co-creation with the development team by running design sprints.
3. Make business driven decisions in order to improve the system's usability based on the company's goals.
4. Information architecture and interaction design through the feature's screen flow.
5. Final UI based on the brand's guidelines.
6. Guidance on front-end development work in cooperation with the development team
3. The opportunity

When drivers go out on road trips in Brazil, it's common to face some tolls along the way. Usually, long lines of vehicles are formed and people have to wait for their time to pay the toll. With Veloe, they can simply stick a tag to the windshield and when passing through the toll, it's going to be automatically scanned and paid.

The goal of this project is to design a great user experience for web and mobile where the business stakeholders and the end users can easily access this innovative mobile payment method, making possible for retail partners such as tolls, gas stations and parking lots to charge users through their tags or mobile devices.
SOLUTION

According to the project's scope, it was clear that we needed to design some different solutions, according to the different user scenarios and personas.

For this very solution, the job to be done was: When I need to sell Veloe in my store or through the telemarketing, I want to meet my clients' needs rapidly so I can sell to more clients.

This particular feature would include:
1. Login flow for business partners;
2. Different Veloe plans for the business partner to sell according to the clients' profile;
3. Client's registration flow;
4. Payment method flow;
5. Confirmation.
PROCESS

Through double diamond process (discover, define, develop, deliver), I was able to test each new design improvement with the business stakeholders.

The results were shared with the development team, product owner and project manager, inviting them into the design thinking co-creation tools in order to give them the awareness of how important it is to make user centered design and how this approach positively impacts the final results.
