Battleblock Theater: Level Editor
The video (turn volume up and turn on captions) demonstrates the game mechanics and design decisions. The following are important things taken into consideration: -
- Robustness - Almost all the gameplay mechanics offered to the player are being tested in this level, requiring skill to find the only one right solution to the level
- Backtracking - The level is designed in such a way that it can be traversed backwards in the same way that we are supposed to traverse forwards
- Checkpoints - Various checkpoints where the player can be spawned to save progress
- Looping - Before the main boss, the player can open up a path that leads to the start of the level as well, rewarding the player some extra pass-time with the access to the whole level again, if they wish to not engage with the boss right away
- Rewards - Side quest to earn an extra reward, besides the rewards required to win. Here, we need to use the enemy's quirk (green acid bubbles) to obtain this extra reward, the reward becomes unobtainable if we kill this enemy
