Book Illustration: "Phantom of the Opera"

IIllustration of Weber's enchanting song. He was the composer, the lyrics written by C. Hart, R. Stilgoe and M. Batt.
This piece was made as a class assignment.
Cover
The two sides of the Phantom: the romantic and the murderer.
To the Phantom's lair
The Phantom calls Christine to follow him. Initially I had drawn her passing through a mirror, but the reflection threw the composition out of balance. The decorative frame and flowers from her dressing room still remain.
The mask
Christine unmasks the Phantom. At that moment, he is the weak one.
Masquerade
The Phantom appears and demands Christine's return.
The graveyard
Christine visits her father's grave, while the Phantom watches. The tilted angle aims to create an unsettling feeling in the quiet scenery, with the heavy tomb at the right weighing towards Christine, the Phantom lurking on its top.
The hanged man
Near the end, Erik attempts to have Raoul hanged, while he and Christine watch from afar. Stark darkness aims to amplify the roughness of the feeling.
The kiss
Christine offers herself in exchange for Raoul's life. The Phantom stands a bit higher than Christine, but her bright form pushes him to the edge.
The dream
The Phantom stands alone, remembering his boat trip with Christine. A dream-like, hovering scene with a boat on the clouds.
