Peering through the Lattices

(Song of songs 2:9)
He stands behind our wall and looks in at the windows, He peers through the lattices.
Our sins have created a partition as strong as steel which keeps Him apart from us. He waits for us to break down that partition through repentance only. Then He will draw close to us and redeem us. Even now that the partition stands, He does not abandon us. He constantly looks through the window and peers through the lattices. These windows are made by the righteous among us who cleave to G-d. The lattices are created by the mitzvot performed by Israel. (Alshich)
