A Humble Man
הִנֵּה מַלְכֵּךְ יָבוֹא לָךְ, צַדִּיק וְנוֹשָׁע הוּא; עָנִי וְרֹכֵב עַל-חֲמוֹר

"For behold, your king will come to you, righteous and victorious is he, a humble man riding upon a donkey" Zechariah 9:9
Maharal: (מהר"ל, גבורות ה', ה, ט )The word for donkey in Hebrew is chamor חמור. The word for physicality is chomer which indicates that the Messiah is riding on the physical world. In order to reach a level of holiness so that he is closer to the level of godliness, the Messiah has  to overcome the qualities described in the reins:
Love of Pleasure – Deceit – Bodily Lust – Illicit Relations – Levity – Pursuit of Honour – Bearing a Grudge – Laziness – Theft – Tale Bearing – Verbal Oppression – Shaming – Thoughts Behind Sin – Hating – Taking Revenge – Anger – Envy – Lying.

אַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ--    אֲשֶׁר לֹא הָלַךְ, בַּעֲצַת רְשָׁעִים;
וּבְדֶרֶךְ חַטָּאִים, לֹא עָמָד,    וּבְמוֹשַׁב לֵצִים, לֹא יָשָׁבכִּי אִם בְּתוֹרַת יְהוָה, חֶפְצוֹ;
וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ יֶהְגֶּה, יוֹמָם וָלָיְלָה.

Praiseworthy is the man who walked not in the counsel of the wicked, and stood not in the path of the sinful, and sat not in the session of scorners. But his desire is in the Torah of Hashem and in His Torah he meditates day and night.
