SELFBOOK / photobook project

InDesign

SELFBOOK is a photobook project, which combines photography, editorial design and generative art. The book visualizes the differences of people personalities. It shows how unique could be people if they get the same questions.

At first, I made five ridiculously nonsense questions with only two options to answer. After that, I paired each answer with basic geometric shapes and colours. Then I asked these questions from people, recorded the answers, and shoot a portrait photo of them. For the final step, I generated personalized graphics by combining their portraits and the answers. For that I used Processing app, which exchnages the pixels of a photo to predefined shapes based on the pixels grayscale value.

The Questions:
1. Do you like sweet or salty food? – A: Sweet, B: Salty
2. Do you like black or white colour? – A: Black, B: White
3. Do you like sparkle or free water? – A: Sparkle, B: Free
4. Do you like winter or summer? – A: Winter, B: Summer
5. Do you like plain or mountain? – A: Plain, B: Mountain

Also, I created an interactive video installation for the SELFBOOK, where the graphic is generating live by a webcam and a projector.
