Safari Express Promotional Artwork
For the 2018 Spring Break I was tasked with revamping our promotional artwork for Trinity Metro's route 18X, the Safari Xpress (previously named the Safari Express), a seasonal weekend bus route that transports civilians between our Fort Worth Central Station and the local, award winning Fort Worth Zoo. During the project I was also given the opportunity to visit the zoo for promotional photography.
I highly recommend visiting the Fort Worth Zoo should you ever find yourself in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. More information on the zoo can be found at https://www.fortworthzoo.org/
The colors I felt best represented a safari aesthetic.
Initially the elephant was drawn as a simple line drawing with a solid fill, but after adding multiple shades, the artwork gained. a dramatic amount of depth.
It was also intentional to draw an elephant as the primary focal point of the artwork as an elephant is the sole animal in the Fort Worth Zoo's logo.
The final artwork. I must admit that the leaves were not drawn by myself, but I did pick the colors and arrangement.
The artwork was displayed at on the columns of the Fort Worth Central Station. It should be noted that the Fort Worth Transportation Authority was rebranded following the creation of this project to Trinity Metro.
Every bus in our system has a flyer placement behind the driver, and we loaded the vehicles with the artwork to promote families enjoying their Spring Break holiday to visit the zoo.
