Mortal Engines project, design for Tunbridge Wheels.

This is my filmic set design of Tunbridge Wheels from the book Mortal Engines (Philip Reeve). The audience and characters are introduced here together. I have designed with a sequence in mind. To escape being trampled on, the characters Tom and Hester have clung onto the underside of a passing town and appear from a floor trap in the streets of Tunbridge Wheels, where they head towards the town hall before being hijacked by locals. I briefly referenced the real town Tunbridge Wells. Mainly inspired by shanty towns, slums, scrap yards and steam punk, I designed an intimate setting for the action to unfold.
