'Harambee' is Swahili for “all pull together”. The Harambee for Kenya Charity helping vulnerable young people of Kenya started in 2007 after the founders had been helping Kenya Scouts to look after street children.

This event was a charity fundraiser organised by some of the international students at Leeds University. So much effort had gone into putting the evening together. There was a silent art auction, live music performances, poetry reading, spoken word and activist speeches. Lots of alcohol crated in and served at a makeshift bar. It was held in a converted warehouse in Leeds that had somehow turned into a sort of secret, unlicensed bar/music venue/club house for creatives. This made for a great evening though, it was great to see a collection of bright, talented young people coming together by there own volition to raise money for charity. People were generally there to do their bit for the greater good. It was a really wonderful event.
