Tribute to Paula Scher
Author's identity
This project was developed during the course "Product Graphics Laboratory" of the University of Genoa.
The purpose is to describe the work of an artist / graphic designer through the creation of three visual communication products, with the aim of learning how to manage the various stages of research, selection and analysis of the material and then focus on the particularities detected and create a coherent product.
The products requested are an A5 postcard, a poster and a short catalog of the artist's main works.
This tribute tries to highlight the most famous works and the prestigious results achieved by the artist, summarizing the key points of his career, using the same font and the same iconic colors.
The creation of this project can be summarized in four steps:
Research of projects: project drafts, critical texts on the author and/or on projects
Analysis of projects: study of layout (identification of compositional criteria), semantic analysis of images, plastic analysis of images, analysis of techniques and methods of representation, analysis of lettering, analysis of graphic signs, ...
Research and analysis of examples: analysis of short communication projects on the identity of the author
Final project analysis: definition of signs and compositions suitable for the representation of the assigned author
