Ben & Frank San Angel (Multiple owners)

The Mexican eye shop Ben & Frank opens its second location at the picturesque and declared monument historical zone; San Angel in Mexico City. Even though Ben & Frank already had a solid store concept, also developed by Mob, there was still a little room to play around while developing the second location!

One of the challenges of this project was to present an interior design concept that felt new but connected to the original store concept in Polanco. Polanco is rather an elegant neighborhood in Mexico city so the challenge here was to translate Ben & Frank’s store essence to the coloquial neighborhood; San Angel.

As a team, we took inspiration from the neighborhood itself and the coloquial accents found in the houses and old buildings. We also experimented with materials such as: wood, leather and steel. The arrangement of the place was certainly a challenge since the store was quite small and the client needed to fit 200+ glasses for selling purposes. After exploring differents layouts we finally accomplished our goal of fitting 200+ glasses while giving the users enough space to walk around, discover the store and enjoy the spaces.
