En la ciudad de Huesca se celebra uno de los Festivales de Cine más reconocidos de nuestro país. El Festival de Cine de Huesca, que se celebra cada mes de junio, consta de varias secciones oficiales a concurso dedicadas al cortometraje: el Certamen Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes, el Internacional y el Aragonés, y una sección dedicada a los documentales con el Concurso Europeo de Documentales. Además, junto a la sección oficial, el programa del festival acoge una importante programación paralela, como el Concurso de Relatos o la Muestra de Cine Europeo, y secciones monográficas dedicadas a las diversas escuelas de cine.
El Festival falla en cada edición el premio "Luis Buñuel" al mejor actor español o europeo. Asimismo, se otorga el premio "Ciudad de Huesca" a través del cual se pretende rendir un homenaje a un cineasta consagrado. La muestra se complementa con exposiciones, cine infantil y la presentación de libros que edita el propio festival. Como es fácil comprender esta actividad transforma la vida de una amable ciudad durante los días de su celebración a la vez que anima, durante todo el año, las manifestaciones culturales.
En este contexto surge la iniciativa de crear un Museo de la Imagen en la ciudad de Huesca, para ello se parte de la reconstrucción de la muralla en el tramo de la calle Joaquín Costa y la prolongación del paseo Camino de Santiago realizado por el arquitecto oscense Pedro Lafuente Lies. Como estrategia inicial de dar una imagen del festival al exterior se lleva a cabo la creación de una piel que delimite las distintas piezas del programa a la vez que dialoge con la muralla y su entorno más cercano. A lo largo de dicha prolongación, en el dialogo entre piel y muralla, surge la entrada al festival a modo de gran ‘alfombra roja' para recibir al público y actores galardonados en los días en que se desarrolla el festival. La transición entre el exterior y el interior del museo se produce por la permeabilidad de la piel de la fachada y un espacio intermedio que contendrá las proyecciones al aire libre en las noches de verano.
Se pretende que el nuevo centro, además de programar numerosos ciclos de proyecciones, exposiciones y otras actividades conjuntas, haga posible el desarrollo y difusión de nuevas investigaciones, sirva de residencia, equipamiento público, laboratorio, sala de trabajo, despachos, oficinas y que con su fachada posterior complete el alzado de la calle Pedro IV relacionándose con los restos de la Iglesia de la Magdalena.
In the city of Huesca is celebrated one of the most recognized Film Festivals of our country. The Huesca Film Festival, which takes place every June, consists of several official sections devoted to the short film: the Ibero-American Short Film Competition, the International and the Aragonese, and a section dedicated to documentaries with the European Competition of Documentaries. In addition, together with the official section, the festival program hosts a parallel program, the Short Story Competition or the European Film Show, and the monographic sections dedicated to other film schools.
The Festival rules in each edition the prize "Luis Buñuel" to the best spanish or european actor. Likewise, the "Ciudad de Huesca" prize is awarded through which it is intended to pay tribute to a dedicated filmmaker. The showing is complemented by exhibitions, children's cinema and the presentation of books edited by the festival itself. As is easy to understand, this activity transforms the life of a friendly city during the days of its celebration while encouraging, throughout the year, cultural events.
In this context arises the initiative to create a Museum of the Image in the city of Huesca. Let’s start with the reconstruction of the wall in the stretch of Joaquín Costa Street and the extension of Camino de Santiago road made by the architect from Huesca, Pedro Lafuente Lies. The initial strategy of giving an image of the festival abroad is the creation of a skin that delimits the other pieces of the program at the same time as the dialogue with the wall and its closest environment. Throughout the prolongation, in the dialogue between the skin and the wall, there is the entrance to the festival as a big ‘red carpet’ to receive the public and award-winning actors in the days when the festival takes place. The transition between the exterior and the interior of the museum is produced by the permeability of the skin of the facade and an intermediate space that contains the outdoor projections on summer nights.
It is intended that the new center, in addition to other joint activities, make possible the development and dissemination of new research, serve as a residence, public equipment, laboratory, work room, offices, offices and with its rear facade complete the elevation of the street Pedro IV relating with the remains of the Magdalena Church.
