"MMX - MMXII" album artwork

- Inside panels feature cover artwork for two past albums, and photo retouching/manipulation techniques
- 2-colour screen printed design for the CD face and corresponding merchandise
One of my favourite things about being a graphic designer is that I'm able to undertake all of the visual design work for my band Gracefield. Musically-influenced artwork is what drew me into a career in graphic design in the first place, and I'm fortunate enough to have such a great creative outlet to put my personal ideas into.
Our late 2012 release entitled "MMX - MMXII" is a compilation of our two previous EPs, 2010's "Villains" and 2012's "Hope Is All We Know". Since the two EPs were both exclusively released as digital downloads, it was great to finally get the artwork from those into print, not to mention coming up with a brand new concept to tie everything together for a physical release.
I always work closely with our singer Robb to come up with the ideas behind the artwork for each release. We are a very lyrically-driven band, and I try hard to emulate that through our artwork as well. The slogan "Running on pure heart since 2008" really set the tone for MMX - MMXII, and inspired the concept of the album's front and back covers. As the album was a re-release of the two previous EPs, I used the inside panels to showcase the album covers and band photos from each release, and put together a collage of hundreds of photos of our band over the past 5 years to use as the backdrop. The end result is below.
