FLUID FACADE
ASA _ Responsive Skins, Lecco
The challenging topic of the WS was about the responsive skins.
the main idea was to create a doble skin on the south facade of the building taking advantage from the interaction of the two main elements that the ferrofluid (obtained from recycled materials) and the magnets.
The ferrofluid is located between a double glass membrane and is moved thanks to the magnets mounted on a steel grid.
The magnets can move freely along the Z axis.
Is possible to obtain different designs and shapes in relation to the distance between the fluid and the magnets.
In addition to obscuration of the facade, the system is also used in a purely aesthetic with the ability to create messages and shapes on the facade.
