BRANDING FOR THE JOUVERT BAND, 'FRIENDS FOR THE ROAD'
BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN & VISUAL SYSTEM

Creating the brand identity for the Trinidad Carnival Jouvert band 'Friends for the Road' was a collaborative exercise between the artist and band leader, Che Lovelace and myself. Based on a drawing by the artist a vector graphic of 'friends chipping down the road' was created, edited and typography added after a few combinations were tried . We wanted to keep the handmade feeling in the finished mark so it kept the same look and feel of Che's accompanying carnival and jouvert paintings that was used as part of the branding and communication material for the band. A strong and vibrant colour palette was pulled from the paintings as well and the secondary typeface for the copy was layered in poster style, to be used just as well on it's own, creating a very urban, modern Caribbean visual presentation.
