RE-BRANDING BLUE WATERS INN, SPEYSIDE TOBAGO
BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN, VISUAL SYSTEM, SIGNAGE, WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA LOOK & FEEL.
With the new brand identity design for Blue Waters Inn, we didn't want to lose the past entirely. We wanted to draw from the iconic artwork of the original signage and edit and modify it for this time and the future.
The original logo for the hotel was an elaborate painting of themot-mot bird, plants and fish in the ocean. We wanted to simplify that paiting to create an iconic brandmark.
The mot-mot bird is a bird indigenous to Tobago and to the area of the Blue Waters hotel, located in Speyside, Tobago. — A quieter side of the island and is about a 45-minute drive from the airport. The hotel sits on a secluded cove with a private beach, giving ocean views from each room. Blue Waters Inn in enclosed by mountains and the lush greenery that surrounds encourages all of nature and it's animals. Many of which are birds who attract many bird-watcher to the hotel. Often catching views and pictures of the mot-mot bird among many others.
But Blue Waters in is not just for bird watchers. It is also frequented by divers who utilise the Blue Waters Dive facility as well as vacationers just coming for a relaxing secluded getaway as a couple, with friends or family.
Without ignoring or forgetting it's base customers, the bird-watchers, and divers, Blue Waters wanted to update their brand identity and image and attract a more luxurious crowd to this prize location. Thus in updating the new identity, I kept that arch shape of the original mark as it also mimicked the curve of the beach cove and kept the iconic mot-mot bird in the new identity. Many iterations were worked through to get the right balance of the parts of the identity to combine elegantly, from graphic to chosen typography. The colour palette was pulled from the surrounding and complementary branding material from stationery to signage was also designed and presented along with the website look and feel and photography style guide.
