Concept Proposal
Fun Coach: system of themed coaches in the tube, underground, overground, etc.
Themes relate to peoples’ everyday aspirations as a form to escape their demanding routine and make commuting time a worthy and pleasant experience by adding value to the trip. The concept transforms travelling time to personal time; engaging people with their environment and each other, providing lower stress levels, provoking a feeling of belonging. and increasing a sense of safety and security.

RSA Brief | The Good Journey
Identify a daily journey - either your own or someone else’s - and improve it in a way that improves it for many people. Think about how might a design solution or intervention enhance the commuting experience or make better use of commuting time.
Six pillars of design: Social Benefit, Research, Design Thinking, Commercial Awareness, Execution, Magic.
Food for thought
The daily journey to and from work or school – or to shops and services for people who are not employed – is a necessary evil in most of our lives. Although travel literature and magazines praise the journey as being as significant as the destination, the same experiential romance can rarely be attributed to the daily commute.
How could people think of their commute differently, thereby increasing their own personal well-being? A solution could address the economic, social or environmental issues of people’s daily journeys – or indeed, all of these.
Research
Historical Background
Current Situation
London’s local trains are rail services across the city and extend beyond the Tube network.
Most local train lines connect efficiently with the Tube and accept payment by Oyster card.
Although it seems that train is a very common way for Londoners to commute, a survey for Transportation in Europe shows that in the UK, only 6% of people are using train services most days of the week.
64% of the general sample, take the train for leisure, and only 12% use the train services to go to work/university.
Men, use the train more than women to travel to work/university or for business.
Women are more likely to use the train for leisure purposes.
