The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the New Library of Alexandria, aspired to implement a landmark honoring the enterprise of science.
The main approach of the design of science city was to create a set of buildings and spaces that can be inspiring on the outside and motivating and exciting on the inside to visitors and employees alike. It expresses a particular vision of the search for knowledge and the pursuit of science.
Our entry considered the new SC as that moment that starts a new era of knowledge, education, awareness and enlightenment to the whole world not only to Egypt resembling the big bang of the universe that sparked everything we have and know today.
The constituents of the site are installed unsystematically as the constituents of the universe, the science park permeates the site as the spacetime permeates the universe where the buildings affect that space each in its own way and the design of the landscape, pathways and the site furniture as well.
From the philosophical point of view, the site stimulates the three different dominant environments of Egypt; the agricultural environment, the desert and the coastal zone.
The Egyptian identity is the dominant theme in the science park. Various Egyptian elements are demonstrated throughout the site, the design of different shades for example is inspired from various Egyptian features.
