Works on Paper

In an earlier series of works entitled Deconstruction, which as the working title suggests refers to the 1980- 90s post-structuralist philosophy and perception of reality, the constructions appear to fall and seemingly collapse while at the same time they are firmly rooted and yet tense. The tension here is between horizontal lines and lines that seemingly travel in the wrong direction. The constructions are clearly marked so as nothing is left to chance. There is no secret romantic dreamlike space created within the images. In fact very little is left to the imagination. But the creating of tension within the space is what primarily interests the artist. The demonstration is of how space and our sense of reality can be re-constructed. To show how space and our reality is constructed right there before our eyes through the shaping and forming of black linear gesticulations.
