Le Méga Grand Bordeaux is a new graphic novel published by éditions deux degrés. It tells the story of Gilles, local civil servant, who will have the burden of turning Bordeaux (France, Gironde) and its’ surroundings in a paradise for the greatest number. But his path will be full of pitfalls. Will Gilles manage to obtain the validation of a superior administrative note? Will Gilles find the ideal place to live? Will Gilles meet the love?

This book also tells several ways of living around a city, and describes life choices which are more or less wise…
I worked on the realization and artistic direction of the book with the collaboration of Mathieu Zimmer (autor + illustrations) and Gabriel Bord (autor + photo montage).

Le méga grand Bordeaux est le nouveau roman graphique des éditions deux degrés. Il raconte l’histoire de Gilles, fonctionnaire territorial, qui aura la charge de faire de Bordeaux et ses environs un paradis pour le plus grand nombre. Mais son chemin sera semé d’embûches. Gilles arrivera-t-il a faire valider une note administrative supérieur ? Gilles trouvera-t-il son lieu de vie idéal ? Gilles rencontrera-t-il l’amour ?
Ce livre raconte aussi plusieurs manières de vivre autour d’une ville et des choix de vie plus ou moins judicieux…

J’ai travaillé à la réalisation et la direction artistique du livre avec la collaboration de Mathieu Zimmer pour les illustrations et Gabriel Bord pour les montages photos, et tous les deux auteurs.

I notably draw my inspiration from the work of Joseph Le Callenec, who was graphist and publicist for the game “1000 bornes”. My idea was that it should call to mind the concept of journeys and adventures.

To boost the book and the story, as well as depicting the grandiosity of such big urbanism project, I reworked in volume the condensed typo “Knockout”. For the adventures, I worked in particular with Roger Excoffon’s typo “Antique Olive”, which was used in this game.

Dans l’idée d’évoquer la notion de voyage et de péripéties, je me suis notamment inspiré du travail du graphiste et publicitaire Joseph Le Callenec pour le jeu « 1000 bornes ».

Pour dynamiser le livre et le récit et représenter le côté spectaculaire que serait ce grand projet d’urbanisme, j’ai retravaillé en volume la typographie condensée « Knockout ». Côté péripéties, j’ai notamment travaillé autour de la typographie « Antique Olive » de Roger Excoffon qui était utilisée dans ce jeu.
