Achieving the perfect golf stance starts with setting up your feet properly. Use your golf club to measure how wide your shoulders are; keep your hands at these measurement points and bend down so the club is by your feet. The insides of your feet should be the same width apart as your shoulders, which makes it easier to adjust for different types of clubs. Longer clubs like drivers require two to three extra inches of space, while short irons and wedges need about an inch or two less space.

As you position your feet, make sure that your toes are pointing in front of you and not at an angle. Place your body weight on both feet equally, and make sure it is equally distributed between your toes and heels.

Once your feet are properly positioned, it is easier to get the rest of your body into position. Position your knees above your feet, and bend them slightly. Keep your hips aligned with your feet and legs, along with your spine and head. All these aspects should be lined up with your target line, the imaginary line that extends from your target to your golf club. It’s also important that your buttocks protrude outward slightly so that your waist and spine are kept straight.
