365 Days Of Drawings

I want to get better with my art. Withas many art media as I have at my disposal. That's why I started a small self-challenge.
To draw at least 15 minutes a day, even if it's to be a small doodle. Any subject, as long as it brings some value - can be a new technique, new media, improvement work, etc.
December (works 1-9)
1. 2017-12-23 - Ginko Leaf - this was just a tryout. I didn't even know that this will be the beginning of the challenge
2. 2017-12-24 - Acorn Pixie - this, in turn, was a tryout of the new, wonderful 3in1 markers I got various shades of grey. I loved them instantly.
3. 2017-12-25 - Mohawk Girl - a face perspective I'm not very familiar with, trying for a more 3D depth
4. 2017-12-26 - Phil Coulson (-ish) - Trying out this rough and simple cartoon style. Even though it looks nothing like the model, I really liked it.
5. 2017-12-27 - Lucifer (from the TV show) - just going for doodle in my curent style.
6. 2017-12-28 - Yoda - playing with color pens, failing with the dark green. Still practicing depth.
7. 2017-12-29 - This Filthy Dog - it came as a joke that makes sense only in Polish and after too much explaining. This is an expansion of a 10-minute doodle that I liked and decided to upgrade into something really, really ugly.
8. 2017-12-30 - Noodle - Haven't put much heart in this, I must admit. But snakes are cute ;)
9. 2017-12-31 - 2018-01-01 - Alien Party Time - ok, I helped myself with photoshop. But it was party time! Anyway, a two-day piece, done mostly for my mom, who loves Alien <3

January (works 10-19)
10. 2018-01-03 - Koi - first attempt at dotwork. I like dotwork.
11. 2018-01-04 - Paper Crane - second attempt at dotwork. Still loving dotwork.
12. 2018-01-05 - Moonstruck Cat - I had no inspiration what so ever. I got a line from my partner to do with whatever I want in less than 10 minutes. This is a fantastic excercise!
13. 2018-01-02 - Baby Boy - this actually got lost for a few days and I didn't want to screw up the numbering. My approach at realistic baby portrait (failed, it looks NOTHING like the model. I'm not too good with realism)
14. 2018-01-09 - God vs. Devil - this is actually a fanart of a marvelous short film by G. F. Darwin that I absolutely loved.
15. 2018-01-10 - Wool Heart - This was a wedding gift for an avid knitter and a programmer. Normally I'd do a portrait but the girl is completely un-drawable. And I tried several times over the last 15 years. True story.
16. 2018-01-17 - Rey - I just came back from watching the new Star Wars and started doodling and this came out and I had to finish it andworked until way past at 2 a.m.
17. 2018-01-19/20 - The Waitress - DRUNK DRAWING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! This was inspired by a lovely, petite lady that served me a lot of alcohol that evening.
18. 2018-01-25 - The Monster - this was three weeks in the making with lots of trial and error, trying out new Photoshop techniques and brushes. And I'm so insanely proud of it.
19. 2018-01-30 - The Frog - got new gold and silver markers, wanted to try them out. Lesson for the future - oil markers first, alcohol markers later.

February (works 20-42)
20. 2018-02-01 - The Mushroom - I got my Promarkers set that day. This was supposed to be a tryout but I love the little guy
21. 2018-02-02 - The Cat - this is when I discovered that I absolutely despise the marker-dedicated paper and have no idea how to work with color
22. 2018-02-04 - The Chick - I wanted to try out this super overdrawn style of extremely thin waist and huge hips.
23. 2018-02-05 - The Tough Guy - trying out shading with markers, failing mostly. The guy has only four fingers because this is how I drew cartoony characters when I was a kid and I guess it resurfaces sometimes.
24. 2018-02-06 - Watermelon - I have to admit, I was just doodling there.
25. 2018-02-07 - Black Cat - you can't see it here but this is the piece that confirmed that I can't use the marker paper for markers. The marker in got all patchy since the paper doesn't soak up and it looks attrocious. Still, I like the design.
26. 2018-02-08 - Doughnut - did you know that February 8th is Fat Thursday in Poland? The most important holiday of the quarter? Again, totally blotched the shading. but I SO wanted to tru this circular design.
27. 2018-02-10 - Beer - this should technically be #28, since there was a doodle on the 9th. But it was nothing I wanted to share with the world so it never got to be a full piece. This beer was a half-assed attempt of a tiny drawing, since I was out of town, visiting friends that day.
28. 2018-02-11 - ZIG - I got my watercolor markers that day. This is nothing I'm proud of, since it was a stupid tryout on regular drawing paper. Won't be repeating that mistake a second time.
29. 2018-02-12 - Free - Even though the face is really bad, I am SO proud of this. I didn't have an universal compass so the circle required a lot of creativity and some sticky tape. I like the mix of techniques and how they come together here
30. 2018-02-13 - Snail - Wanted to try how red drawing ink fairs on the marker paper. Poorly, is the answer.
31. 2018-02-14 - Valentine - I don't really do Valentine's day (we celebrate love every day of the year). Still, the Instagram got to me with all the lovey-mushy stuff and overall I'm quite okay with it.
32. 2018-02-16 - Dung Beetle - This mofo took two days and I am SO FRIGGIN' PROUD. The dots were made with 003 pigment ink pen, the whole picture is 15 cm high. Two days of dotting. Two. Days. Of. Dotting. The first thing I hear when I show it to people? "oooh, cute little hairs on its legs!". The hairs were an afterthought.
33. 2018-02-17 - The Ghost - still dotting, y'all. This is one of my personal favourites.
34. 2018-02-18 - Disgruntled- a small doodle during a RPG session.
35. 2018-02-19 - Dwarf - This was started the day before but RPG-friendly lighting in the room dodn't allow me to finish until the next day. I was on a roll with facial expressions.
36. 2018-02-21 - Skull - I decided that I have too little realism in my portfolio. And thus, The Week Of The Skull began.
37. 2018-02-22 - Skull 2 - I was always saying that I was bad at realism. This is where I've proven myself wrong. And I felt so good about myself then.
38. 2018-02-23 - Mouse Skull - for some reason, this is the most popular post on my Instagram. And I have no idea why.
39. 2018-02-24 - Bird Skull - This is where I decided that I need a break from skulls. The page these last four sketches are on still has one empty spot left. I'll get to it sometime in March. Just to clarify: all four skulls were drawn from reference photos, using one technical pencil in HB.
40. 2018-02-26 - Copsewight - the story here is that my Pathfinder character of two years was killed by this possessed tree. And since the end of the month was very low on inspiration, the doodle I was making while I thought I was done with roleplaying for that day was a good enough idea.
41. 2018-02-27 - Eye Jar - tiny drawing, yay! This is about five cm and I personally find it cute.
42. 2018-02-28 - Red Cat Lotty - I started this having a new avatar in mind but I'm not really feeling it. Still, single color palate training. Should have gone with a Universe theme to celebrate the 42nd pic.

365 Days Of Drawings

As a practice, I decided to create at least one small drawing each day for the next year. Topic, technique, media will probably vary as I go.
