Samba Galeria Branding Project
Re-branding of a Brazilian Churrascaria and incorporation of an Art Gallery and Show
A Madison venue (Samba) was re-branded as a restaurant and art gallery. Promotional material was created for a gallery show featuring an MFA student's work.

Samba Galeria logo, building facade re-brand and menu spreads. The samba logo is based upon the vibrant and bold musical beat found in Brazilian Samba music. The circular shapes are based off of a detail from a wrought-iron stair banister found within the restaurant. Because of the harmonious circles found on the stairs, the typeface Century Gothic was chosen in the logo for its perfect circle o's and its rounded curvature.

Menu spreads re-created and edited to represent more accurately authentic Brazilian cuisine and bebidas. Texture was created by a staining method using one of Brazil's main exports, coffee, and edited with an orange tint to better represent the brand's color palette.

Each of Julie VonderVellen's pieces are comprised of garments sewn out of handmade paper printed with journal entries/memoirs. The garments reflect real pieces that were worn during the events that took place in each of the journal entries.

Note the orange in the logo has been changed to a salmon color as shown in Julie's cover piece (skirt).
