The Concrete Stool

The Concrete Stool

The Concrete Stool was an experimental project exploring the turning capabilities of aerated concrete. Turning foundation blocks into stools.
Two tongue and groove Thermalite aircrete trenchblocks were joined together to make The Concrete Stool. With a compressive strength of 7.3N/mm2 the aircrete lent itself to becoming a stool. Due to the nature of aerated concrete the stool is deceptively lighter than it may look. The curved form provides a smooth, almost soft, surface whilst the furrow makes for easy picking up and transportation.
