ONI RISING LOGO DESIGN
The client wanted to freshen up their band logo by keeping a handbrush look to it, while also retaining elements such as the Kanji character Oni, along with a Japanese feel overall. The word Rising naturally helped me organize the logo design into sections - placing the band name at the top, resting on the strong Oni character below with a jagged structure to go with their style of music. Oni represents a supernatural demon, devils, ogre, or trolls in Japanese folklore, so I played off the meaning of Oni and combined that with the personification of earth-shattering metal music which worked into the logo in the way of cracks and jagged edges.
