Analog 2D: Culminating work

We were given a set of words; the words given for the left painting was: Following and Merging. The words given for the right painting was: Floating and Love. Then the center painting was the two painting put in one. I Would say that I definitely failed for what I had intended the left painting to stand for. To most everyone, it looks like mugs, but I was really trying to go for circles slowly merging in with some squares. The main objective with both the painting on the left and the painting on the right was to keep it as simple and plane as I can make it, because sometimes that is where the magic happens. After completing those projects, I was told that I needed to come up with a piece that combined the two painting. So I thought I worked even harder than before to complete something just a little more complex and more meaningful then the last two, but still keep its original appearance. And I think I was really successful that way.
Here are some different perspectives on the culminating work
The second project was to paint four canvas paintings using color for depth. I honestly struggles big time here. Trying to come up with another object with a mix that was just a tad softer than the focused object had to be very difficult. I am sure you can really see my struggle with these paintings. All I can really say is that I tried my best and that is what counts.
As you can see, painting was never really my thing, but that can always change with practice. This was the very first project given to me to paint, when I have not painted within the past 4-5 years. I think I did pretty good for what was assigned and given the fact that I did not know how to approach these painting projects.
