Kintsugi is a Japanese word which means ‘golden scar’. In Japanese culture, a scar symbolizes an experience that brings wisdom and increases the value of an object. According to this philosophy, the mending becomes part of the object’s history and renders it unique. Broken ceramics are carefully mended by artisans with a lacquer resin mixed with powdered gold, silver or platinum. The repairs are visible — yet somehow beautiful. The company’s logo is made up as a reference to that concept.

The typography was created based on the union and fragmentation of the letter n.

Kintsugi’s product are the molds, which are packed ready to be sterilized. An option to purchase the rim (which acts as an intraoperative guidance) is provided. The rim is made up of transparent resin. The product’s packaging is designed with the purpose of keeping it in pristine conditions. Both the molds (male and female) and the rim are perfectly wrapped in a 3M vacuum sealed plastic which helps facilitating their sterilization process.
