Re:Imagine Peterborough
Peterborough has a wealth of potential sites which could be enhanced with public art.
We created an exhibition, which ran through November 2017 at Metal Culture Peterborough, to show the city in a new way, inviting residents to visualise it as a space for exciting cultural experimentation. W
e held a series of workshops with local residents, artists and students, to harvest suggestions of where artwork should be situated and what it should include.
We commissioned local photographer Neil Hepworth to take stunning images of the chosen sites, including iconic Peterborough landmarks and underused walls. The project identifies the sites where art will have the maximum effect on the lives of local residents - the spaces they pass every day and would like to see improved. We created and developed the artwork, then digitally superimposed it onto the photographs. Advanced photo manipulation techniques allowed us to make realistic examples of the spaces complete with the art. The exhibition started a debate about art in Peterborough and challenged expectations of how the city should look.
