SELF AUTHORED || COFFEE TABLE BOOK
With it's ever-shifting social/cultural/economic landscape South Africa is a unique country to have grown up in. With such diversity comes multiple influences on each individuals self-identity and essentially self-authorship. Trying to capture the colourful influences South Africa possesses is best understood through self experience. Experience lived, Experience interpreted, Experience defined. The publication is a very personal reflection of a journey or experience that is unique to me and something that has influenced my “South African-ness”. My publication is an expression of someone that has had a massive impact on my life and on who I am as a person. Although I didn't learn it all verbally or by the book, I learnt it by watching her and looking up to her. The book is a collection of things I associate with her, something I learnt from her or something I see in myself that I know is as a result of her
Where ever you go, always remember the essentials. In order to capture the bright lessons I've learnt from a wise women I have created a book of assosiations. Although not always coherent in logic, they do hold substence.  Picture this. A middle aged women about 5 foot, walking with a strut in her step and her head held high. Never seen without the essentials to being an absolutely fantastic person.

“Keep your money in your bra” is associated to the importance of keeping the important things close to you and near your heart, the association is not directed at money in particular, it is more directed at things such as family and friends

“Always embrace your assets” refers to guarding the things about yourself that you are most proud of and sticking by them throughout
Cleaning tip: To get dirty white shoes looking brand spanking new. Wash them, and when they're still wet cover them in Chalk, leave them there until they are dry dust of the excess and there you go, as good as new. She learnt this in her younger years when she was at school. Every weekend she would make sure her shoes looked new for the week to come

It is important to take the time to take care of yourself and your belongings, clean the weeks slate to be ready for the next one and take pride in what you present to the week on its way
