SOLVENT THEORY || SELF-PROMOTION
Defining ones self is possibly one of the hardest things to do, simply because we define by comparison. In order to define ourselve without comparison we need to create an identity representative of who we are without mention of what we are not. Sovlent Theory is an interactive piece designed to showcase me as a designer indirectly through various experiments and experiences. Often in my work I like to try different ways of approaching things, not necessarily to please the public but more to encourage an experience and find satisfaction or small successes within that experience. I try to provke the engager to think beyond what is infront of them and have an impact of a memorable experience. Solvent Theroy is based on the concept of my way of coming up with solutions to design problems. The piece is a science kit with numerous experiences and experiments to engage with each representing an aspect of my personality through the physical design and the design of the experience
The experience comes as a science kit, fully equiped with everything you need to have a good time. The chemicals are on the top shelf, equipment on the middle shelf and safety gear on the bottom. At the back there is a slot for the frame to fit perfectly and the manuals have their little pocket in the door. The box is a compact package with more surprises than expected

Manual 1 is an explination of the safety kit provided with the piece to ensure no harm is done to whoever is engaging with the peice. This includes: gloves, an apron, goggles and a disposable camera to document the experience
Manual 2 contains a glow in the dark coffee coaster for the late nights of hard work. Written on it is “take shots in the dark” this not only encourages one to try, but also to give something a chance, and to take the risk because the reward may brighten the future
Manual 3 invloves a piculiar growning thing. This thing takes time to get going but once it's going it's full steam ahead. The lesson here is to have patients to allow yourself to grow, as well as take the time to acknowledge that growth
Manual 4 is a magnetic experiment, the idea is to express the power of positivity and how it can be a key to the attraction of others. Positivity can open doors through showing a good attitude towards other good things
Manual 5, is somewhat pointless by the end of it but brilliant while it lasts. It is related to the ideas after you have run out of ideas, it's the moments when everything comes together well. It is the pinical of ending with a bang
Safety equipment including goggles, a branded apron, a disposable camera and gloves
Experiment three equipment and utensils
Experiment five equipment and utensils
Experiment five equipment and utensils
Experiment four, a metaphor for attracting positivity, the almost blank from with majority negative space is brushed over with iron filings that stick to the magnets on the page behind. Showing how the attraction of two things can fill a negative space and turn it into something positive
