For my collage, I used many tools to alter my photos. First, all of my images were cropped into squares to fit the Polaroid frame, which I duplicated 9 times to achieve 10 of the same shaped object. I placed each photograph on its own layer beneath each frame then edited them. I lowered the saturation and contrast on the photos to achieve a more realistic Polaroid look. I then added a certain amount of noise accordingly to each photo, until they looked fuzzy like a real Polaroid does. I added a slight pink hue to some of the photos to help them match the others a bit better. I then used the brush tool with a low hardness and the color white to add a detail of "shine" onto some of the photos, making it look slightly more realistic. I merged each photo and frame together, then added a drop shadow to appear as if they were laying in a pile and not completely flat. I wanted to add text that fit the style of the collage so I used the text tool and courier new to achieve a "typewriter" look. I then rasterized each text layer I made and added noise to them as well to appear more grainy, and lowered their opacity. To create a slightly off-kilter look to the text like some typewriters give off, I used the puppet warp tool on the text and altered the kerning as well as just shifting certain characters up and down slightly.

For the elements I used in this collage, shape, pattern, and texture seem the most obvious to me. I kept my collage simple by repeating the square photos, creating a pattern over the wood grain. The texture I used a lot was noise, giving the image an old, dull feel. The wood texture in the background gave off a similar vibe. The principles I took notice of were balance, in how the images are spread out evenly throughout the whole piece, and not one side looks more or less full. The text I used was centered. I achieved unity well, I think by giving each image a complete edit, making it match the look I was going for. Even new and modern pictures with the noise and saturation editing look a bit older.
