Randy Eastburg's profile

Former Pitcher Joins Rangers Front Office

As owner of Valley Ridge Roofing and Construction, Randy Eastburg makes all business decisions for the Flower Mound, Texas-based company, which generates over $6 million in sales per year. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Randy Eastburg enjoys following his favorite Major League Baseball team, the Texas Rangers.

Texas couldn't come to terms on a contract with free agent Colby Lewis during the 2017 regular season, but the longtime Rangers pitcher will join the organization as a special assistant to the team's general manager, Jon Daniels, in 2018. In that capacity, Lewis will be working with the team during spring training and visiting its minor league affiliates throughout the year to give advice and instruction to its promising young pitchers. Among other pitchers, he is expected to mentor left-handed top prospect Cole Ragans, with whom he briefly worked last season during a visit to the Rangers' Class A affiliate in Spokane.

Originally selected by the Rangers in the first round of the 1999 MLB Amateur Draft, Lewis spent three seasons with the big-league team from 2002 to 2004, but missed the 2005 season due to an injury. He later played for the Detroit Tigers and the Oakland Athletics, and even pitched in Japan, before rejoining the Rangers from 2010 to 2016. He finished his career with a 77-72 record to go along with a 4.70 earned run average and 961 strikeouts.
