The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body established by an Act of it took over the work of former All India Khadi and Village Industries Board. KVIC has a wide range of products such as processed food and vegetables, handmade paper, village industry products, fabrics and handicrafts. This project mainly concentrates on the village industry section of the retail outlet.

Need for design:
The current scenario of display system or stacking system doesn't categories the product thus, there is no clarity of product in consumers mind. There is no proper division of space as shelves are empty and there is clutter on the table. Requirement of a permanent assistant as the consumer accessability is disturbed. The structure is permanent thus there is no possibility of adjusting the size of the fixture according to the varied size of product. There is no scope of branding nor the fixture talks about the character of the brand thus, no communication with the consumer.

Concept:
The idea was to develop a modular furniture fixture specifically for the brand KVIP which can be a in-store display unit as well as a exhibition display unit. The raw looking display unit brings out the character of the brand ‘Khadi’. It helps to categorize the wide range of products bringing clarity for the consumers to locate the product. Also, it gives an opportunity to include branding. The fixture being modular in nature, the size of the shelves can easily be adjusted according to the product size and can be easily transported one place to another. The structure has a triangular form so one can form different compositions with the units for attractive and convenient display. Thus, can be used at various places such as Khadi expos, handicraft expos, stores and temporary exhibitions at malls.
