The Vast Things - Astro & Nightscapes

I've always been fascinated by the stars, but having grown up in the light polluted regions of southern England there was never much opportunity to really enjoy them. This changed with a stay in the dark skies of New Zealand, providing me with a view of the night sky like no other. Inspired by these diamond encrusted skies and the great astrophotographer Mark Gee I thought I'd try my hand at making the most of the European skies upon my return. Unfortunately, light pollution and earth orientation prevent New Zealand levels of astro beauty but the European skies still have a dose of charm and grace to offer. My first astrophotography shoot was at a favourite day time location, Schloss Favorite in south west Germany. The palace hides most of the nearby town glow and a few passing cars helped light up the building with a distinct brake light red. Astrophotography is a new venture for me but one that delivers a peaceful enjoyment.
