The local City Council is launching a new promotional initiative, in the form of a travel/tourism website and street display/signage. They have invited designers to submit type/ font designs that reflect parts of the city.
The task of this project was to create a visual identity for a selected area in Auckland City. The predominant design element should be lettering I have created using inspiration found within the area. The resulting identity should reflect the essence of the area as one sees and experiences it. The area I chose is Ponsonby.
Poster style and technique is inspired by Magdiel Lopez.
Ponsonby was one of Auckland's earliest and is still the most vibrant inner city neighborhoods. It has an eclectic mix of buildings which contributes to the rich flavour of the location.
Locale font is inspired by the blend of the unique heritage and the contemporary buildings in the area.
