ColchãoNet.com: Website Proposal

ColchaoNet.com is a company that sells mattresses and bed suppliers. They requested a proposal for a new e-commerce website to increase their sales, bring more people to physical shops and improve the relationship between the brand and the client. Also, this new website was requested to be full responsive on all devices (desktop, tablet and smartphone).

To understand what were the problems on the actual website, I decided to do some benchmark on other companies that sell mattresses and bed suppliers and compare to the actual ColchaoNet.com website. With this research, I detected four main issues that need to be improved on the new website:
– Start using a 'Live chat' service;
– Show the number of products available in each physical shop;
– More emphasis on the 'free delivery' service and the number of years of warranty that each mattress has;
– Better filters so when someone is searching for a product it will be quicker.

ONLINE ORDERS

(A) Free delivery, warranty and percentages components highlighted:
– 'Free delivery' (= Entrega gratuita) and 'Minimum warranty of XX years on all mattresses' (= Garantia minima de XX anos em todos os colchões) components remind the user of the advantages of buying at Colchaonet.com;
– 'Minimum warranty of XX years on all mattresses' component provides to the consumer more confidence on purchasing the product;
– Showing the old price of a product on sales encourage the purchase.

(B) Better filters:
– The filters are more simple and easy to use. This makes more easier for the user to find the product he is looking for.

(C) Better catalogue structure:
– An organized structure makes easier for the user to understand all the details of each product. This contributes for the user to spend more time browsing the website.

(D) Product labels:
– Different types of labels highlight different products (Novidade! = New!);
– Using colour-coding on the labels help the user to spot them quickly.

(E) Better call-to-actions:
– The new shape and the hover state of the CTA buttons are more easier for the user to recognize as a button;
– The text on the CTA button is more clear for the user to understand the action when he clicks on it (Comprar = Buy).

PRODUCTS CATALOGUE

(A) New scale of thickness for mattresses:
– A scale of five levels were created to help the user understand the thickness of each mattress. This scale starts at 'extra soft' (level 1) and finishes at 'extra firm' (level 5).

(B) More info about the availability of a product in a specific shop:
– Instead of the user call the company or visit a physical shop to know if a specific product is available, he can now see the availability of any product in this new component.

RESPONSIVE DESIGN

Usability, design and buttons size:
– The structure of the new website is now responsive;
– Important contents were increased (example: photo gallery);
– On the mobile version, buttons were increased so it is more easy for the user to tap what he wants.

Possibility to buy any product in any platform:
– It is now possible to buy any product using any device.

WIREFRAMES AND DESIGN

Some other important pages are displayed below. The same three pages are on the wireframes and design carousel so it is possible to compare them.

My contributions
– Benchmarking;
– Sitemap;
– Task flow;
– Low-fidelity wireframes;
– High-fidelity wireframes (Functional Specification).
