Vrijland Festival

Creating the identity and artwork for a festival to celebrate our freedom is a great honor. Vrijland literally means 'Free Land' in Dutch and is held on the 5th of May, liberation day in Holland. Since the very beginning, 5 years ago, the festival has seen different locations and has been sold out every edition.

The dove has been the main symbol right from the beginning to emphasize the aspect of celebrating peace since 1945. The three main colors, red, blue and white, taken from the Dutch national flag and the geometrical fill of the dove gives the artwork a contemporary look while referring to the cultural national feeling. The font used in the main wordmark blends nicely with the shapes in the icon, while the font for text gives the minimal design a traditional touch.
