A poster design created for the IMRAM festival, 2015.
IMRAM is an annual festival celebrating the Irish language. DIT students are offered the opportunity to help advertise the festival by creating promotional materials; in this case a poster.

I decided to focus on Gabriel Rosenstock's poem, Gaza. This poem describes the painful wait and powerlessness in watching the events unfolding in Gaza. For my interpretation, I chose to focus on the viewer, us here watching news updates on television and seeing them online, likely safe, where our only connection to these people is through a screen. In this way, others’ struggles are diluted and there is a distance, or broken connection between us. I hoped that my billboard would disrupt people from their daily routine and make them consider this for a moment.
Gaza
Os mo chomhair amach
ar an bhfuinneog
cuileog gafa i líon damháin alla
chomh soiléir le grian an mheán lae
An líon nach mór dofheicthe
cá bhfuil a thús
a dheireadh
Ní fheicim ach streachailt na cuileoige
cosa beaga ar mire
sciatháin á ngreadadh go faon
Cén fhaid a mhairfidh sé seo?
Ar feadh na síoraíochta?
