Drill, Baby, Drill

a response to ANWR and a rafting trip down the Canning River
Drill, Baby, Drill was inspired from a rafting trip along the border of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The viewer uses a cordless drill to interrupt the pristine topography of the river banks with colored paints. Depending on the viewer's aggression or hesitation in winding the drill, paint will burst or drip slowly down the topography. An interactive piece, Drill, Baby, Drill, was created and exhibited in my studio during a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in April.
